Abstract:

In order to attain glasses with ultra dispersions properties, different heavy metal oxides were used. The desired glasses were obtained from the addition of high amounts of PbO and Bi2O3 to B2O3 based glasses. Refractive index measurements were carried out accurately at different wavelengths by the minimum angle of deviation in prisms method employing a spectrometer. Results indicated that, as the amount of Bi2O3 increased in the glass system, the measured dispersions deviated from the commercial glass trend to the higher levels, due to the presence of higher number of non-bridging oxygen bonds. Since the research is genuine, and along with it, many families of glasses have been tried elsewhere, it may require more studies to be done, till better and higher optical quality glasses are conquered. These glasses can be employed in designing and constructing novel coatings or glazes, in which the incident white light entering, the coating layer, refracts out broadly in different colors. Therefore, these glazes will appear in different colors, when are observed at different angles.

Witness sample preparation for measuring antireflection coatings.

Measurement of antireflection coating of witness samples from across the worldwide industry has been shown to have excess variability from a sampling taken for the OSA Topical Meeting on Optical Interference Coatings: Measurement Problem. Various sample preparation techniques have been discussed with their limitations, and a preferred technique is recommended with its justification, calibration...

exploring motivation and english test preparation strategies of iranian pre-university candidates during and at the end of test preparation period for konkur examination

the current study aimed at investigating the relationship between motivation and test preparation strategies (tpss) used by iranian pre-university students in their preparation period for the university entrance exam (uee). due to the importance of uee in iran, this study also attempted to show its impact on these two important variables. to this end, 100 pre-university students in an iranian p...

A Novel Method for Designing and Optimization of Networks

In this paper, system planning network is formulated with mixed-integer programming. Two meta-heuristic procedures are considered for this problem. The cost function of this problem consists of the capital investment cost in discrete form, the cost of transmission losses and the power generation costs. The DC load flow equations for the network are embedded in the constraints of the mathematica...

Designing tensile ductility in metallic glasses

Effectiveness of a second phase in metallic glass heterostructures to improve mechanical properties varies widely. Unfortunately, methods to fabricate such heterostructures like foams and composites do not allow controlled variation of structural features. Here we report a novel strategy, which allows us to vary heterostructural features independently, thereby enabling a systematic and quantita...

Preparation and Evaluation of Epoxy-Clay Nanocomposite Coatings for Corrosion Protection

Polymer-clay nanocomposite coatings have attracted much attention because of impressive enhancements of coating properties. In this research, both commercially available and isophoronediamine-modified montmorillonite clays were used to obtain epoxy-clay nanocomposite coatings. These nanocomposite materials with different clay loadings in the form of coatings were applied to cold-rolled steel (C...

Preparation of Chameleon Coatings for Space and Ambient Environments (preprint)

Tribological coatings of yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ), gold, diamond like carbon (DLC) and MoS2 were synthesized using magnetron assisted pulsed laser deposition (MSPLD). The coatings were synthesized in four-component and three-component combinations that included YSZ/Au/DLC/MoS2, YSZ/Au/MoS2, and YSZ/Au/DLC. A range of coating compositions was studied to explore coating optimization for l...
